A world class Athlete visits MPPA

4th October 2018

On Thursday 4th October 2018, Hermione Plumtre visited the school.  Hermione is a semi-professional 400m Hurdler living and training in Birmingham.  She was an England lacrosse player for 5+ years and is now training to compete in the hurdles at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.  This year she has already made the final at British trials.

Hermione completed a circuit and racing techniques session with the children and gave an inspirational assembly.  The children raised just under £2000 through sponsorship for the whole day and a huge thank you must go to our amazing parents for their support with this.  The school gets to keep £778 of this money which will go towards PE resources for all the children which  is wonderful.  A fabulous day was had by all.

Children's quotes from the day:

"It was great learning that just 4 minutes of exercise can make a difference to you day." Paige

"Hermione raced against some of us which was great, as it was amazing to see how fast an athlete is in real life." Hattie M
