Year 2 - Wriggle and Crawl Engage Week

3rd June 2019

Wriggle and Crawl Engage Week - 3rd June 2019

The children have been enjoying celebrating their new topic ‘Wiggle and Crawl’ during Engage Week. They were excited to come into school to find new class pets- little caterpillars! The children enjoyed voting for their new names. The children went on a minibeast hunt around the grounds to find out what creatures live in the school environment. Using a paper plate, the children created their own bug craft using a range of tools and joining techniques. Later in the week, the children experienced sewing and learned how to use a running stitch to join two pieces of felt together. Although the children found this quite tricky to begin with, they quickly learned the new skill and really enjoyed making a new soft butterfly toy to take home with them. The children thoroughly enjoyed creating new pieces of artwork including painting a minibeast, using watercolours and looking carefully to draw their favourite insect from observation.
