Year 2 - Street Detectives
Year 2 have been learning about the Great Fire of London during their new learning project ‘Street Detectives’. They have learned that The Great Fire of London started in a bakery on Pudding Lane in the year 1666. Pupils became bakers, making their own bread rolls; they enjoyed kneading the dough, but it got very messy! The children were excited to take home their roles to enjoy them with their families.
As part of engage week, Year 2 researched the types of houses that were burnt down in The Great Fire of London. They talked about the materials the houses were made from and how this enabled the fire to spread so quickly. The children designed their own house in this style and chose the materials they were going to use. They worked together to use recycled materials to build and decorate their houses. They were very proud of their finished products!
Year 2 have been learning about electricity, creating a circuit to light up Pudding Lane - just like the fire had in 1066. The children learned about the importance of a complete circuit and discovered what happens when a circuit is not complete.
