Year 2 Engage

Engage Week - Muck, Mess and Mixture
Our topic this half term is ‘Muck, Mess and Mixture.’ During Engage, the children started reading the popular story by Roald Dahl ‘George’s Marvellous Medicine’ and came up with their very own marvelous medicines. The children thought carefully about what effect their medicine might have such as turning them invisible or making them grow taller. In Art, they studied the work of the artist Jackson Pollock and how he used paintbrushes in a different way. The children then created their own version using his famous technique and using different tools such as their fingers and straws to blow paint bubbles! Coral, Diamond and Quartz also made their own biscuits. After tasting a sample, they thought about what ingredients they would need to include and got their hands very messy when mixing all of the ingredients together. After they were cooked and cooled, the children even decorated them using different coloured icing.
