Year 3 High Ashurst Trip- Woodland Skills

1st October 2019

High Ashurst Outdoor Learning Centre- Woodland Skills

This half term, Year 3 visited High Ashurst Outdoor Learning Centre. Each class had the opportunity to take part in lots of activities to develop their communication and team building skills.

During the Woodland Skills, they worked in small groups to build a shelter that could fit their team into. The children were very creative ensuring their shelter had beds, windows and TV rooms.

During the morning, they also collected silver birch branches, which were then used to build the camp fire. The children learnt the imporance of fire safety and the 3 elements needed for a fire to alight. At the camp fire, popcorn was cooked and the children throughly enjoyed eating their snack. They even got the chance to have charcoal face paint.
