Year 4 'Gross Guts' Workshop

This term, Year 4 took part in a workshop called ‘Gross Guts’ as part of their topic ‘Burps, Bottoms and Bile’. Gooey Stuey visited Manor Park and helped the children understand how the human digestive system works. In groups, they masticated a breakfast of corn flakes, which travelled down the oesophagus and into the stomach where the food was dissolved by acid (vinegar). The chyme (digested food) that was created then moved into the small intestine, and all the way through to the large intestine where faeces was produced.
