Year 4 Times Tables Tournament
28th March 2019
This week, 8 children from Year 4 took part in the annual LEO Academy Trust Times Tables Tournament. The children worked in two teams of 4 to complete a tournament of 3 rounds, all based on their knowledge of multiplication. The tournament started off with a 2 minute speed test which the children completed individually. During this test their fluency in multiplication and division was tested. The second part of round 1 saw the children complete missing box challenges based on multiplication and division. For this they only had 1 minute so had to recall their facts very quickly! The focus of the second round was recall and application of factors and multiples. For this round the children worked as a team to complete a quiz whereby they had to select all possible factors of numbers and also had to recall multiples of numbers given. The third, and final, round saw the children work as a team to complete 12 multiplication and division reasoning and problem solving questions. The children worked fantastically together throughout the competition and really showcased their knowledge of times tables. Overall, the two Manor Park teams finished in 5th and 2nd place, a great achievement for their first experience at the tournament! Well done Year 4!
