Year 5- Engage
6th January 2020
The children have begun their new topic, ‘Off With Her Head’. At the start of the week, the children entered into a Tudor style classroom with the tables set up in rows. They learnt what a typical Tudor morning in school would be like including any punishments. They also took part in lessons including: scripture, maths and literacy.
Throughout engage week, Year 5 have learnt about how the Tudor Era began by researching the Tudor Rose. They had a go at creating their own one out of card. They also looked at examples of Tudor families’ coat of arms and used known symbols to design their own shield. The children also looked at some Tudor portraits and sketched their own portrait of themselves.
Tudors were well known for their elaborate banquets. Using their knowledge of Tudor feasts, the children created a menu and banqueting table. These feasts would be followed by lots of dancing so finally, after watching some videos, the children had a go at some Tudor dancing.
