Year 6 Engage- Blood Heart

Year 6 have been learning about how the circulatory system works as part of the topic ‘Blood Heart.’ Using their understanding of the different parts of this system, the children followed instructions to dissect a sheep’s heart. They used string to thread through the blood vessels, chambers and valves, to see where blood would enter and leave the heart. The children also poured liquid into different vessels; if it didn’t come out, they learnt that they had poured into a vein with valves that are there to stop oxygenated blood flowing backwards!
