Year 6 Samba

25th March 2019
Samba Lesson

This term, children in Year 6 continued their Music learning led by Inspire-Works and moved on to learn the Samba! During their lessons, the children learnt how to play different rhythms on a range of instruments included in Brazilian Samba including: Tamborims, Caixa Drums, Agogo Bells, Surdo Drums, Ganzas and Repinique Drums. The children had to respond to calls made by the Samba leader, Apito, using a whistle. The children learnt how to hold and play these instruments effectively as one whole group to form their own Samba Band. The children also used words to create their own rhythms in groups, before using these rhythms to come together to make a powerful, lively and unique Samba of their own. At the end of term, Year 6 welcomed their parents and carers into school to perform and showcase their wonderful learning, a performance thoroughly enjoyed by all involved.
