Remote Learning

Remote Education Plan for children in Self Isolation

Some children may not attend school at this time due to a Covid related illness or because they have been asked to self isolate. These children will be given the opportunity to participate as much as possible in daily learning activities, if they are well enough to do so. Please click to access our Parent Guide for Remote Learning.

Distance Learning for individuals self isolating

Class teachers will set daily learning for pupils learning at home; this offer is made available from day 1 of their covid related absence. Where possible, tasks will be in line with the learning being completed by pupils in school. Reading, Maths and English will be set each day with Phonic lessons being set x3 weekly,  Reading Comprehension x2 weekly (please see below for further information). Wellbeing activities will also be made available each week to support pupils at home. Some lessons may include a short clip recorded by a member of staff to model or explain the learning.

Pupils learning from home will have the opportunity to communicate with a class teacher from their year group via a daily GoogleMeet. This will allow staff members to explain learning for the day ahead and for parents/carers or pupils to ask questions and share any concerns. Please note that this meet will be recorded.

Further information about how to access this learning and information about googlemeets will be sent to parents/carers via email on the first day of absence.

Accessing Distance Learning

Pupils in Reception and KS1 may access Distance Learning through the LEO Distance Learning Website, where parents/ carers will find an explanation of the learning and links to any resources needed. From the LEO Distance Learning website, click your child’s school logo and you will enter the school’s distance learning site.

In KS2, learning will be set on Google Classroom. Pupils can access this at home using their allocated chromebook.

Parents/carers can call the office to request any resources needed to support learning at home, including a Chromebook, pencils, paper, number square etc.

Marking & Assessment

Parents/carers of children in FS/KS1 are advised to return any work completed to the Manor Park Year Group Email addresses (see below). Pupils in KS2 will return their learning via GoogleClassroom. Learning will be checked regularly by the class teacher and all work acknowledged.  Teachers will use their assessments of pupils’ work to adapt learning for individuals the following day.

For pupils who are self isolating for 10-14 days or longer, a quiz will be provided on GoogleForms to allow staff to assess the pupil’s understanding of the work completed that week for Maths and English only. This also allows staff to adapt future learning to the needs of your child.
