Year 4 - EngageBack to News
For their first topic, Year 4 have been learning about ‘Traders and Raiders’. The children learnt about the route Vikings took from the Scandinavian countries to the UK and plotted these on a map. The children also used their art skills to create a sea background using watercolours, including a longship sailing to create a silhouette. For their DT learning, the children researched the use and patterns of shields and designed their own. They used tissue paper and paper plates to create historically accurate shields. The children also pretended that they were on a longship travelling across the sea. They used their 5 senses to write postcards home describing their journey.
“I really enjoyed learning about what life was like on a longship sailing to Britain, ”- Niamh, Opal class.
“I found it interesting learning about how Saxon brooches showed how wealthy someone was,”- Josh, Onyx class.
