The children started their new topic, ‘Blood Heart,’ by learning about the importance of the circulatory system, in particular the heart. They explored the different parts and their roles, even dissecting a sheep’s heart to see them in real life. Using a range of mediums, they drew, painted or sketched the ‘strongest muscle in the body.’  During their PE sessions, they thought about the effect exercise has on the heart and their blood pressure, completing different exercises to compare how the rate changed and using stethoscopes they had made themselves in class! After learning about heart rates and how to read them on an ECG, year 6 incorporated different blood pressure readings into pieces of art.
