How are children involved in planning and decision making?
It is important to involve children and their families when planning and making decisions.
This is done in several ways:
-
School council/committees: Children with SEND are part of the decision making with the Pupil Parliament
-
Pupil surveys: Pupil voice is captured through surveys throughout the school
-
Emotional screeners: In reception, year 3 and year 5 children complete emotional screeners to communicate their thoughts and feelings.
-
Pupil passports for children with an EHCP: a one-page profile outlining how to support a child in school so staff are aware of needs
-
Learning support plans & pupil voice: targets being worked on are written in a child friendly way
-
Annual reviews for children with EHCPs: children and young people who have an EHCP and are supported to complete an ‘all about me’ page and may be invited to attend a segment of their annual review.
