Free School Meals Eligibility Checker
When applying to a Sutton school you will be encouraged to complete an application for free school meals. All children eligible for free school meals are also eligible for a government grant of £1455 per child. This money is used by Manor Park for a wide range of purposes as indicated below.
What Is Pupil Premium?
Pupil premium is additional funding allocated to all schools in England to support disadvantaged pupils and to support schools to close the gap between them and their peers. This budget includes pupils who are currently entitled to free school meals, have been free school meals in the past six years (FSM ‘Ever 6’), children who are cared for or adopted from care and children whose parents are in the armed forces. It is entirely up to individual schools to decide how the money is spent.
At Manor Park we take a holistic approach to supporting our children and ensure that we get to know the children really well and gain an accurate insight into their strengths and needs and use this to inform us fully of the support they may need to help them overcome any barriers to learning. This would be tailored to their individual needs and would include a range of different support which could include nurture and social and emotional support, academic support in focus areas, enrichment activities to boost confidence and self-esteem.
You can find out more about the pupil premium on the GOV.UK website
Pupil Premium In The 2023 To 2024 Academic Year
As in previous years, schools should continue to use the pupil premium to improve the attainment of pupils. The disproportionately high impact of COVID-19 on the education of disadvantaged pupils has made this more important than ever.
For 2023 to 2024, schools are required to:
-
use your recovery premium alongside your pupil premium funding and report on your use of them as a single sum in your strategy statement
-
use this template to publish a strategy statement - see condition 8 of the conditions of grant
-
publish your strategy statement by 31 December 2023
In 2023/24 the school receives £1,455 for every primary-aged pupil registered as eligible for free school meals at any point in the last 6 years.
LAC/Post LAC/ Adopted Pupils Funding
The designated teacher for LAC and for Post LAC children is the Inclusion Leader, Ms Thomas.
At Manor Park we are committed to supporting all LAC/Post LAC and adopted children or those with special guardianship in order to help them thrive and develop to their full potential.
We do this through the following:
-
Training as appropriate e.g attachment
-
Family Development Leader available on request for 1:1 sessions with parents/carers to focus on any difficulties at home, to support family and provide emotional support for adults.
-
Raising awareness of specific issues e.g adoption through assemblies and class work.
-
Inclusion Leader meeting with class teachers to discuss each child and review as needed.
-
Termly monitoring of progress by Senior Leadership Team
-
Designated LAC/POST LAC teacher attending training as necessary to ensure up to date with latest legislation and good practice.
Additionally the designated teacher will consider each case individually to access any support that may help a particular child such as Drama Therapy, Nurture, booster groups or after school clubs.
In 2023/24 the school receives £2,530 for every looked after child.
Pupils with parents in the regular armed forces recorded as 'ever 6 service children
As well as disadvantaged pupils, the pupil premium is used to support pupils with parents in the regular armed forces. Service children aren't considered to be disadvantaged pupils for the purposes of the pupil premium grant, so schools shouldn't track them as part of this group. Instead, they should track them as their own distinct group.
In 2023/24 the school receives £335 for every ‘ever 6 service child’.
EYFS Pupil Premium
The Early Years Pupil Premium provides an extra 60 pence per hour for three and four year old children whose parents are in receipt of certain benefits or who were formally in local authority care but who left care because they were adopted or were subject to a special guardianship or child arrangements order. The payment to the school is made on a termly basis in arrears.
