Year 6 - Darwin’s DelightsBack to News
The children learnt about Charles Darwin and the importance of his work, particularly on the Galapagos Islands. They researched his work on the finches, tortoises and other animals that live on the island and how their adaptations helped to form the theory of evolution. During their art sessions, they sketched these animals focusing on shading. They also applied these skills to their drawings of fossils, using charcoal to blend the darker areas. Thinking about the traits that make each one of us unique, they decided which were inherited from a member of their family and which had been acquired throughout their lives.
